Angry Constituents: What? Rationing already?? You scammed us!
Kiro: That’s a baseless rumor!
Kiro: There’s lots of food out there. We just need volunteers to help move it to camp!
Angry Constituents: You’re joking! … I didn’t vote to work for my food!
It’s either you work for your food or you go hungry. Your choice.
I mean, I kind of get it. They could have assumed their food problem was over when they saw the treasure trove. But on the other hand, they were promised food for their support. They obviously didn’t add 2 and 2 together. A lot of people seem to be like that, they want everything to happen but don’t want to help to do it!
I still say this camp is totally evil. Those poor kids.
Technically, you voted for food, full stop. You may not have cared for the conditions as you were too hungry to care.

It’s a shame there’s no room for sarcasm in politics. Otherwise: ‘Okay, we appreciate the feedback, and as always, we heed the public will. For disappointing you, Reina will resign and go eat the food while you and Damien stay here.’
If they get hungry enough, somebody ought to be willing to help.
I really like @Namaphry’s answer, but in retrospect, they could say:
“I’ll tell you what: we’ll keep Reina hostage, and if you don’t bring us the food by tomorrow morning, we are going to have some punishing done.”
Why not instead:
“Sure, I can keep bringing the food, but it is not going to be as fast. Besides, it may rot or the bears could get to it. We just need some hands to do this faster. We are only asking a couple of people to help bring more. We can keep going ourselves every time, but we really need two more people to come.”
To which they could obviously answer:
“Well, go twice a day”
And the response would be:
“I mean, I can comfortably stay there as long as I want, but I’m trying to share. The only thing that I am asking is for some help. I mean, if I go there again, I don’t really have to come back, right? If you follow me, the same would happen: you would have to find a way to bring the lot back. Why don’t we find a way to do that right now?”
Again, they can get smart and go for the hostage “solution”, which could eventually be solved in some way, anyhow.
