Not necessarily. While an oath may have more enforcement to back it up when it’s actually made to a person/group/supernatural thing, it’s entirely possible to make an oath to oneself. An oath like that can be just as meaningful as an oath to an authority figure, as long as the person making the oath takes it seriously.
Not that I’m saying I think that’s what’s happening here. I think you’re onto something. I’m just saying it isn’t *necessarily* true.
Kechika calls herself “a” land spirit, not “the” land spirit. That means that there are other land spirits with attendant territories. How far does the curse reach, and what do the other land spirits think of the whole mess?
And if she has “…detached herself from (the land) completely…”, can she still be considered a “land” spirit?
It’s never a good idea to make important decisions when you’re angry. Kechika is learning this right now. Not everyone is evil and blanket policies usually do more harm than good. You end up punishing those that did nothing wrong, and the ones you want to punish will likely just ignore it anyway and find another way to do what they want.
So, if Kiro can break the curse will Kechika be able to re-connect with the land? For that matter, how can Kechika even exist when disconnected from the land?
Sworn to who? An Oath implies a greater authority, ideal, or witness.

Still, I feel bad for her.
