Daisy: The folks from the power station chose someone as a sacrifice. But this winter was longer than most, and they slaughtered each other over scraps.
Kiro: … Wait, Daisy, how come you believe this story?
Daisy: Remember the bone pit? There’s graffiti all over camp suggesting that’s where they came from.
Because that’s DEFINETLY a normal rule when believing things.
I love Kiro’s reactions here. She’s so adorable, like they’re telling her ghost stories around a camp fire… and then reality slaps her across the face.

And you can ALWAYS believe graffiti,,,,,
Logically speaking, they should use the internet connection they have at the camp to ask outside world for help. However, I expect that if they try to do that, the connection will break.
I mean, people in an alaskan smelter that run out of food and fight for the remaining resources is more plausible than some spirit harpy. Especially when there is a huge pit with bones to support the idea.
