Kiro: Don’t tease me!
Shadow!Kechika: I’m not teasing you, just presenting a theory.
Kiro: You know something, don’t you?
Kiro: Get back here, Shadow Kechika!
[Kiro: Another Dubois? Who could it be? But… no way. No one else arrived here with me. … Is that so?]
Doubtful another DuBois descendant was dropped off with her. ShadowKechika is being deceptive, I’m sure of it.
Kiro shouldn’t dwell on it; keeping everyone alive is still the best option. Even if there is another Dubois, they’re probably as likely to want to sacrifice themselves as much as Kiro does. And it probably wouldn’t work anyway, because I think Shadow!Kechika is lying (like a rug) to Kiro about selfsacrifice ending the curse. For all we know, Tongue Eater is/was the other Dubois, and he did sacrifice himself, but ended up as one of Shadow!Kechika’s undead thralls.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Shadow Kechika doesn’t even seem to have a reason to want the curse broken. Why would she help Kiro?
“Save everybody” can’t be an option as there have been several deaths already, including the entire crew of the supply ship.
I’m guessing Mom.
It’s a trick! Shadow!Kechika is planting the idea that in order to save everyone, Kiro just needs to keep killing people until she kills “the other DuBois”, thus fulfilling the curse!
Is Kechika a Dubois?
Trying to figure out if Shadow!Kechika is a dark shadow spirit of the original Dubois trying to pin it on the regular Kechika or almost everybody else. Kill the regular Kechika and Shadow!Kechika has total reign. Kill everyone else, and the curse is fulfilled and Shadow!Kechika still has total reign.
That brings up an unsettling third option. If Shadow!Kechika is the embodiment of the curse, then could the curse be ended by “ending” Shadow!Kechika? Not that I see Kiro going full Terminator on her, or anyone, but it might be an option.
Thank you for commenting. Take care!
I definitely wouldn’t put it past ShadowKechika to tell lies to mess with Kiro, but even if she’s telling the truth, it doesn’t change that Kiro is trapped in the curse with everyone else and the way out remains the same. After all, ShadowKechika presented self-sacrifice as the easier option, but never did refute that surviving the winter together would break the curse.
Kiro is incurably curious, though, so I doubt she’s going to be able to just let this tidbit go and not dig for answers.
It’s the tounge eater.
Finding THAT person could be fun. But no sacrifice!
