Reina: Who do you think I am? I’d never give up that easily.
Kiro: So? You’re not gonna call it quits?
David: But realistically, we can’t keep everyone fed.
[Kiro: I can’t just tell them about some curse now, can I?]
Kiro: Like it or not, we took on this responsibility. So… at least we’ll buy time.
You could tell them about the curse, and maybe half of them believe you. But it’s true, it just complicates things.
At least they’re all determined to do something about it.
They might not be able to feed everyone, but they could teach them how to find their own food. . . .
Teach a man to fish…
… and he’ll sit forever. 😀
Time to get your hands dirty, everyone! Do or Die!
Curse or not, they’re being left to their own devices in basically the wilderness with winter on the way. That’s more than enough facts to impress a sense of urgency to get things settled as soon as possible.
You would think, but Daisy’s the only one with a clue about what to do. Everyone else doesn’t and so are very likely to panic.
Again, I don’t think there was a curse.
Greed in some cases, laziness in others, was what finished off most of the people.
Seriously, all this internal politics is no good. You don’t work, you don’t eat. Communities only thrive with teamwork, or at the very least, the ability to leave each other alone. Both communist and Islamic cultures tend not to thrive (Islamic culture is a fear/shame culture, meaning that those in power tend to not tolerate heresy, so there’s a prevailing suspicion; communism on the other hand is built on forced altruism, so people who just want to be left alone are harrassed to cooperate), because they cannot leave loners be and they cannot work together.
A well-run town allows difference of opinion, which in turn produces people who want to work together.
Got to work something out.
