[6.28] Map 1
Hey all I’ve got a question!
I’m thinking about making some print versions of this comic, starting with the chapters 1-3 as one volume, and then releasing the second volume containing chapters 4-6 once chapter 6 is done. The books would be standard manga size (14.8 x 21 cm) with 120-140 pages. Pricing would be around US $6-7 for black and white, $14-16 for color.
So I guess my question is, do people still buy physical copies of webcomics? Or is this like totally out of fashion? (Personally, I cannot read well on a screen, which it why it takes me months to get through long webcomic archives. But an actual paper comic book, I will just fly through. Anyone else feel this way?)

Daisy: so according to your claim, the ship seems to be wrecked in the Narrows. The water can get rough, so we’ll have to time it with the tide. Or we could hike it.
A: I saw a mama bear and cubs last time I went out that way…
Daisy: By boat it is then.
Kiro: You never thought of just Sailing out and not coming back?
Daisy: Trust me, I tried. Ask my last two boats how that went.
Given a good enough screen, I easily read on screen. I tend to buy fancy hardcover collection volumes of webcomics that reach some sort of completed state though, when I really enjoy reading them and want to keep them around for re-reading also in the far future. For this specific comic, I enjoy the art and hope to eventually buy something much larger than manga size. I have TwoKinds, printed on glossy paper that is 267 mm tall and about 201 mm wide – this is the kind of physical copy I would want of Detox Camp.
Duly noted- I’ll definitely make a larger version available as long as the resolution holds up for printing.
I like printed editions of webcomics I support, and I would buy a print version of Detox Camp if you created one. I enjoy print editions for archive binging, but I also see buying them as a way to support an artist whose work I enjoy.
I still buy paper editions of webcomics. I like holding the book and reading it in my hands. I can also skip back and read some stuff without having to click a bunch of buttons. I also like the fact I can just open to a random page and read from there. If this webcomics was a paper edition I would totally buy it!
I prefer reading physical copies as well. Of course I don’t have a smartphone or a tablet, so I’m kinda stuck in one place reading something if it is online only.
I would buy a comic, though I’d prefer color.
I agree with O8h7w on the purpose of buying hard copies. Your art is great and you should not sell it “below value” by printing in a small format, where many details might be lost (the current page with the map in first panel is a perfect example). You drew the pages to the size they are displayed now, so I suggest to keep it that way for print. From my point of view there is no need to bother with a b/w version.
I do have hard copies of webcomics but I rarely read them >_> But one of the main problems for now is money, and sadly most webcomics I read seem to be located in the US so shipping is horrible to Europe. But supporting webcomics I like through getting their book is nice.
I think I will be selling them on Amazon, is that more expensive in Europe as well?
I really don’t have the space for physical books, but for you, I’d make an exception. 🙂
Aww, thanks! I’ll be making new covers so I hope they will look nice.
I’d love to have hard copies of this comic! But shipping and cash are the usual problems though. 🙁
Map 1, huh? I wonder if we’ll be seeing others…
Please do make a physical version of this. I would love to have it. And, yes, printing physical versions of webcomics is very much still a thing. I would know ; I buy a lot of them.
