[8.47] I warned you

Print Volume 2 will be delayed a bit longer. I’ve decided to stop selling books through Amazon soon, and I am now looking for an alternative publisher that can provide decent international rates. I can’t stand the thought of making even one more penny for Bezos. This will take some time to figure out (if anyone has experience with this, suggestions are very welcome.)

Penny: You missed your chance today, but I hope you’ll remember in the future, I warned you once.
[Kiro: What was that all about?]
Reina was right one target. Good on her. Still what is the source of animosity Penny has for Reina? This will need to be explored more.
Penny may be a shadow manipulator, but her negotiation skills are seriously lacking. How did she expect that to really go down? Not to mention that Kiro has bigger aspirations than being the “political” leader for a group of kids. I have my doubts that Penny has any clue of what’s about to happen.
If she does, that would be interesting, but if she does she’s really playing her cards close to the vest.
A college professor I had recommended self publishing through Lulu. I haven’t tried it but it seems like they have a lot of different options so maybe that could work for you? Loving the story.
Lulu is bad. Very bad. They do what they can to scam you out of royalties, and they force you to pay for proof copies. I had to keep correcting my book, so I must have spent hundreds of dollars with not even a penny to show for it. And not only I think so. Chris Hazelton of Misfile lost a ton of money when Lulu “updated” its website, since it screwed up his orders giving him empty packages instead of the comics that he needed to send. Then the new site had issues with formatting. It also has a high print price, so if you want to make money by reselling (since Lulu won’t directly give you money), you quickly find out that it’s annoyingly expensive to buy your own product. They don’t give you anything resembling a wholesale price.
Bottom line? I wouldn’t recommend Lulu to my mortal enemy. Amazon KDP seems to give you some royalties, as did CreateSpace. I swear by it.
The face that both Amazon KDP and CreateSpace are Bezos-owned rules them out from the start, though, doesn’t it, given that’s the whole point in changing publisher.
That sounds less like a warning and more like a threat, Penny.
Turns out I missed something. Re-reading the Penny / Kiro chat, it’s almost certain they can’t observe the campers. So it is all mostly logical. Penny thinks Reina will use the weapons to turn campers against Darien, given what she thinks about her. Makes sense. Kiro think Penny doesn’t know. So the only hiccup so far is why “stop the scheme” should mean destroying the food. If the weapons are to play a role, we’ll learn soon enough, I hope…
try the guys at Girl Genius they are self publishers…
I don’t know if anyone is missing this, but our dope is having a supply issue. Can we all help? For the less observant, the person who creates the comic needs help to find a way to publish. My only advice is https://www.goodreads.com/ , but I have no idea of what I am talking.
goodreads is owned by amazon and is a social network not a publisher.

Lulu is very good about getting books posted on Goodreads, but I have NEVER made money from Lulu. In fact, I have generally LOST money from Lulu, because every edit, they wanted me to do a proof copy. Moreover, they sold my book on eBay without my knowledge and consent.

Amazon KDP does give money, as long as you price above expenses. It’s often not very much, but you are responsible for pushing your own product. You will have to set up your Goodreads page yourself. And you won’t have a hardcover version.
The ONLY way to make money through Lulu is if you buy and resell by hand. And they make the minimum sale price so high, that this is generally difficult to do (my minimum price in Lulu was about $25, the minimum price in Amazon KDP was closer to $13.99, meaning I would have to resell my book at a price nobody would buy in order to make a profit). If people buy your product on Lulu (they won’t because Amazon is more of a brand name), you will not be notified, you will not receive royalties, and they can resell your product on Amazon or eBay. No income, and expenses every proof copy for a misaligned page.

The people at Hiveworks publish, and they have helped the author of Stand Still Stay Silent ship internationally, if memory serves.
