Reina: When I was in high school, my grandpa passed away… leaving a $350,000 fortune with no clear beneficiary. In the fallout, my parents ended up divorcing.
Reina: At the time I was dating Archie. That’s the one thing that kept me afloat.
[Reina: Mom, Dad, please calm down!]
[Reina’s mother: You’re getting no piece of it! … Forget it!]
Reina: I couldn’t care less…
Reina: So when A got caught and sentenced for his crimes, I saw opportunity.
$350,000 is such a pittance in the grand scheme of things, but we see how money corrupts – even a little bit. Reina’s parents fell apart over such a small amount that can’t even buy them a house in Seattle (where they seem to be based on the cityscape). So they lost each other and their daughter because of that. No wonder Reina is messed up.
Almost certainly she got a bit overbearing in her relationship with A. She couldn’t bring herself to lose the one thing that worked in all that, but in doing so she ended up breaking that, too. Still breaks my heart for her.
They had probably already lost each other if they could not handle joint property.
Yeah, it was likely a fragile relationship to begin with. They probably could still have been argumentative and abusive before this, if all it took was a couple of bucks to break it.
Reina makes more sense to me now.
If this is true – makes complete sense. Also fits with Reina being/developing a personality that scares Archie.
I don’t think she is lying (for starters this fits with her not being one of the internet addicts) but we are also only having her take on events. And we’ve had multiple occasions of individuals either being mistaken or propagating rumors.
Yep, officially Seattle, probably felt like more for regular earners already there before the tech boom.
Funny to see a scruffier A and declaration that crimes happened by someone who probably heard his side of it already.
Hmm. A seems much more of an … A … than before.
Divided, it is certainly not enough to buy a house directly, but probably just enough capital to take out a mortgage with a bank. For peoples with no hope to ever buy their own estate without something like this, it is important enough to fight for :/
