8.22 Transcript
Kiro: Daisy said to who? You?
Reina: To him…
[Daisy: Hey, Archie!]
[Daisy: Onward, to freedom and adventure!]
[Daisy: I’ll show you a world she can’t even imagine!]
Reina: I couldn’t even begin to compete…
Kiro: You’re still hung up about that?
Reina: This isn’t about him anymore, all right?
As much as she might not want to admit it, Reina’s still pretty hurt about that whole ordeal. But our Kiro can help her get through that!
I also wonder what Reina thinks she can’t compete with, and I hope it’s more than “Daisy is blonde and A is a sucker for blondes.”
I’m pretty sure that’s not how it happened, since A seemed more scared of her than attracted to Daisy.
Whatever it takes to soothe the ol’ ego, I guess. 🙂
Yeah I think so, too. Probably more Reina’s skewed perception of it. Maybe she felt things were going fine and then this other girl shows up and then A runs off. It could also be the turning point where she started to get a bit more controlling and clingy which drove A off. I’m sure we’ll find out!
The middle panel is BEAUTIFUL
A whole new woooorld~
Heh, something like that.
But at least Kiro can be there for her, provided things don’t fall apart between them too. Honestly, for all that Archie says she’s turned into this manipulative toxic person, he’s hardly an unbiased source, and so far she seems far more genuine than not. So I’m half-wondering if Reina would be the one hurt by Kiro’s schemes, if the whole “puppet ruler” plan comes to light. On the other hand, whatever Reina’s behavior was that scared Archie away to begin with might come into play just as much with Kiro too, even if her feelings ARE genuine… It’s hard to say for sure at this stage, with a character who’s so deliberately nebulous.
Also given how Daisy was framed in Reina’s imagination I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some level of one-sided feelings in that direction too, even if overshadowed by envy and bitterness.
In general it feels like there’s a lot of tribalism and romantic entanglements and general tensions that are going to NEED to be resolved if they have any sort of chance of surviving the curse together.
