3.17 Transcript
Daisy: I came here for somewhat different reasons than most of you campers … I have always been quite fearful of the internet.
Kiro: Then what the heck got you sent here??
Daisy: People always said I was really “backwards”… I always thought there was something evil about social media and how they’ve… changed people… I didn’t own a phone, but that didn’t sit well with my mom. She’s a senior manager at a big tech company.
Daisy: So she had me sent here to experience life without internet. Told me to come back when I was sick of it.
Kiro: That seems a bit excessive…
Daisy: Some religions don’t mix.
Yanno, somehow Daisy never struck me as the internet addict type.
Is it just me or did both of the last two pages just end with questions that weren’t actually answered?
“You aren’t actually a murderer, right?”
“Did you make sure no one’s following you?”
The answers to those strike me as slightly important. I wanna know, damnit! 😉
Cue both questions being answered in a single panel as Daisy shoots A., who was tailing Kiro to make sure she wasn’t betraying him of her own free will… XD
Dang, I should’ve done that as an April Fools panel
That must be distressing for Daisy’s mom
Perhaps – though it might also be a case of forgetting to keep her work life and family life separate. 😛
Daisy seems like a real “back to nature” kind of gal. And probably lasted a lot longer then her mother expected.
When asked about this, her mother said “Daisy who?”
I’m guessing that Daisy isn’t sick of peace and quiet yet. ^^
“Religion” is a little strong, but some people come pretty close….
@Delta: My impression is that Daisy is far more sick of her fellow campers than of peace and quiet.
I think Daisy is being a bit harsh on her mother! After all, she realized that Daisy couldn’t deal with her lifestyle, so she gave Daisy a vacation! 😉
On a less sarcastic note, could this be a key part of why Daisy is pretty much the only one of the Banished? After all, a teetotaler in the middle of a rehab center would probably draw a LOT of resentment – all of the people struggling with withdrawal effects now have to deal with someone who not only doesn’t share in their misery, but has no frame of reference or even any real sympathy for their plight…
Social media hasn’t changed people at all. It just revealed what they have been like all along.
Should we expect Daisy to publish a manifest?
She is already living alone in a hut in the mountains.
It changes people the same way using slot machines does, and for similar reasons. You just click and you instantly get rewarded. It trains you to think there’s a way to win big if you can only figure out the patterns. All that can gives people a bit of a manic edge, especially for those who are into it more heavily.
It definitely has changed people. My sister and brother used to be alot more sociable. Now they absorbed in their phones.
Ummm, family came to visit, you think you could bring your nose up for a few minutes to say hi?
Ok boomer
