Kiro: I’ve met you before… Kechika.
Shadow!Kechika: Ah, you know my name. I see you’ve met that insufferable other half.
Aha! so, light, dark? Yin, yang?
Now we know what the purple-haired cat-eared girl on the cover looks like. But what does she want with Kiro and what does Tongue-Eater expect her to do?
Insufferable other half?
Someone needs to do a pronunciation guide for hard to say names, like Kechika and how should it be pronounced…!?
My guess is accent on the first syllable: KEH-chi-kuh
Also supported by the fact that there’s a similarly named place in Alaska: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketchikan%2C_Alaska
So, Kechika was eagle woman spirit, and shadow!Kechika is cat-eared eagle woman? Are there other Kechikas? Do they have even more templates added?
“Insufferable”–there’s a good villain word. When was the last time you heard a hero call someone insufferable?
She seems quite like an owl to me. But more importantly does she have arms AND wings or just wings? Because if she has 6 limbs she belongs in the same taxon as European dragons and most insects, right?
If she’s like the other aspect of Kechika it’s just wings. Which raises the question of how they manage to get into those dresses if they were solid but I think this is just how their spirits appear to Kiro. The last time Kiro talked to light Kechika A and Daisy saw her talking to an eagle. Which implies that Kechika the spirit uses birds as avatars on the mortal plane.
“When was the last time you heard a hero call someone insufferable?”
Roy regarding of Elan? (The order of the stick)
We don’t know if this is the hero/good land spirit or the villain/evil land spirit.
Thinking it kinda sounds like Chick Hicks in Cars.
Insufferable does not sound like they get along. Couple’s counceling?
I see she shares Kechika’s trait of having inscrutable eyes that seem to stare right through you. Must be a spirit thing.
It (the duality, situation and one sided irritation versus regret) make think of Clavicus+ Barbas = the Vile in The Elder scroll
together, they are a single entity relatively functioning, but at points the stronger half get tired of the more ‘reasonable’ part and banish him, crippling both in the process, and slipping into a form of madness.
The quests in all games that include him consist in finding a talking dog asking for help reuniting with/ convincing their master, said master to be clavicus accepting on the condition that the player help them by recovering an artifact, and then on return suggest the player use the artefact to kill the dog (and then keep it).
refusing reunite the two and net another artefact, accepting also sort of reunite the two.
In this story, the two Kechicka are in this kind of situation, but the choice is reversed : whether the MC get killed or if they manage to pass the winter without deaths, the two halves will fuse again, but the resulting personality will depend on the choice
It’s also a raptor thing
It’s pronounced “Catch-ka”. See the commentary under page 6.15.
