Daisy: So what’s so bad that sent you running back?
Kiro: The ship sank.
Kiro: I should mention that I installed Reina as the president of the council, and the food on the ship was our entire platform.
Daisy: You won against Darien?
Kiro: It’s all falling apart now, so I thought I’d at least have him take the fall for it while I figure out what to do.
Daisy: Kiro, this is almost just like how Darien came to power.
Except that Darien ruled; Kiro left. And if Reina can’t get her act together (and maybe even if she can), it looks like life in the camp is going to get really unpleasant when it becomes common knowledge that there’s no more food.
“I installed Reina”, no false pretensions, and it is true. I like this girl more and more!
Hmm, Darien had a similar experience. That might explain a few things. But that also means that everyone in camp has been through something like this before, I don’t know if Reina is equipped to handle that especially without Kiro around. Not that Kiro is a politician or anything, but more for the moral support.
“…almost just like how Darien came to power…”
Sooo, that technique works? ^^
Maybe this camp shouldn’t have political leaders. It seems to not work out well for anybody involved.
Kiro might be the protagonist of this story, but I’m not totally sold that she’s the hero. It’s 50:50 between hero and villain origin story, honestly.
(And I’m totally here for it)
oh yes. I love this about the comic. there’s a lot of stuff (especially YA fantasy) that markets on “morally grey” heroes, but I think Kiro is the only character I’ve seen that could truly claim that.
Sereneseal is brilliant.
I like the way that Daisy’s hair stands up on hearing the news of the ship.
