Reminds me of the short story “To light a fire” by Jack London. I hope it doesn’t have the same conclusion.
“Dawn came, cold and grey, exceedingly cold and grey. There was no sun nor hint of sun, but he didn’t mind the lack of sun. He was used to the lack of sun. . . .” Fortunately, Kiro probably won’t come to the same kind of end as he did since she doesn’t share his critical flaw. She is keenly aware both of the deadly power of nature and of her own frailness in comparison. . . .
That didn’t take long for it to go south… At least she’s been living Man VS Wild for the past month or so. At least she has an idea of what she needs to do.
Still, dangerous alone. Be careful, Kiro!
A classic way to die in the north…
Now would be just the time for a bear to show up…
let kiro say fuck 2k22
Skreeter will show up, don’t worry.
Perhaps time for Ben to show up and save her and share his rat…
Straight into the water. She really couldn’t have worse luck if she tried–which I guess the plot kinda confirms.
The story is “To Build a Fire” (not “To Light a Fire”) in case anyone wants to look it up. Don’t go out alone when it is so cold your spit crackles into ice before it hits the snow.
Seems silly to make a fire in the open – visible amd the heat just leaves.
