7.31 Transcript
Daisy: Y’know I’m curious what she has to say.
A: Use that to our advantage? You even sound like Reina.
Kiro: The food supply at camp is in a bad state. Which reminds me, we need to inspect what you picked up.
Kiro: Anyway, there may be a lot of food on board the wrecked ship.
Kiro: What I proposed to Reina was use this and win her a place on the council. But she’d be under my influence.
Kiro: I want to take charge of camp before winter arrives.
A: Hold it. This plan is bonkers, Risk, logistics, and not just trusting but controlling Reina? And what’s even in it for us?
Food on the ship? Quite apart from the fact that the bears may have already eaten what there migh have been, was the ship approaching camp with a full load, or leaving–empty?
The ship has to have enough man days for the crew to get back to wherever they’re going, plus emergency rations and the like–it is Alaska after all. But it wouldn’t hold them over all winter, or get them much farther, unless there is more food slated to be delivered to other sites along the coast. And then there are the bears.
Having some political power, in whatever form, might give them some leverage, but they need to get the internet addicts detoxed to the point of productive, and contributing in some way, even if that’s just showing them out to make fox traps and snares that the woody folks can then place and harvest food. If they’re lucky, there are some URW nerds in there who are at least somewhat familiar with the outdoors, in a roundabout way.
Sidestepping a dubious career in salmon fishing, Kiro defaults to her proven talents.
Even if the ship was leaving, it would’ve had to have at least some provisions on board for the crew.
Weird, I thought I commented here. Well, the network has been wonky at work this week, maybe it never went through.
A: That’s a horrible plan!
Kiro: Yeah, she’s kind of into me. So, it should be easy.
A & Daisy: Wait… what?
I also love Kiro’s confident expression like “Of course I’m doing this, what else would you expect?”
If this comic was like The Prisoner TV series,Reina would be the new Number 2.
People still remember The Prisoner?! I almost feel young again!!
